STATEMENT
"I have sketched and painted over half a century, receiving personal training from many recognized masters. People are my favourite subjects, although I do the occasional still-life, sea or landscape, often outdoors in the company of fellow artists. Portraits, I find, require the artist to reflect the unique personality of the individual while depicting his or her physical likeness. This is a far more demanding enterprise than is presented by other subjects where creativity is more readily applicable and accepted."
OVERVIEW
Dr. Jamieson has painted portraits throughout his military and medical careers. His works are found in private and corporate collections as well as Canadian army regimental collections and the Canadian War Museum. His work can also be seen in publications such as the 'International Artist' magazine, 'The Best of Canadian Pastels', 'Alberta Society of Artists- the First Seventy Years', 'We Stand on Guard- an Illustrated History of the Canadian Army', and 'Lord Strathcona's Horse (Royal Canadians- a Pictorial History'. A Senior founding member of CIPA, he is also recognized as a Premier Pastelist of Canada (PPC) by the Pastel Society of Canada.
