STATEMENT
Tamara de Grandmasion was born in Calgary and grew up in the mountain resort of Banff. She is the daughter of Nicholas de Grandmaison, the renown Canadian artist who is recognized primarily for his portraits of Canada's First Nation people. The training Tamara received from her father influenced her love for pastel and the portrait style she has adopted.
Combining family life, painting, travelling and other activities she has had few shows and has worked mainly from word of mouth, primarily in Alberta and British Columbia.
OVERVIEW
After studying with her father Tamara spent a year painting in Mexico, attended the Beaux Arts in Montreal, took private lessons in Hamburg Germany and from then on developed her skills in Calgary and Vancouver. Now painting in oils, pastel and watercolor, Tamara concentrates on portraits though she has developed a love for depicting the beauty of Canadian landscapes as well.
